Simulating processes

When you have completed modeling a business process, you can use ActiveVOS Designer to simulate running the process. Process model simulation allows you to perform impact analysis using "what-if" type scenarios to predict resource utilization, cost and other process KPIs and goals. By making slight adjustments to parameter values such as arrival rates or resources, bottlenecks and resource-contention can be discovered and suitable alternatives explored.

To ensure that you get meaningful results from your simulations, review your model for completeness and accuracy before you simulate it. You can use model validation to ensure that your process model is syntactically correct.

First, create a simulation project and model resources.

You can also specify additional simulation properties such as arrival rates, resource requirement for each activity, and probability for distribution gateway.

·     Specifying simulation properties

In addition to the default metrics (process time, process cost, resource utilization and task waiting time), you can also define additional metrics, known as KPI (Key Performance Indicators).
