Importing Visio or XPDL Files

You can import one of the following file types in to ActiveVOS Designer for conversion to BPEL. This is the Visio/XPDL Model import.

• Microsoft Visio 2003 or 2007 VSD or VDX file

Note: To import a VSD file, Visio must be installed on your computer. Many types of Visio diagrams cannot be successfully imported. The best support is for files created with a BPMN stencil.

• XPDL file. This file is a XML Process Description Language file. For details, see Exporting a BPEL file to XPDL.

Your diagram may be appropriate as a basis for a BPEL file.

To import a Visio or XPDL file:

1. Select File>Import>Orchestration>Visio/XPDL Model.
2. In the Visio/XPDL Model dialog, select a Model format.
3. Browse to select the .vsd, vdx, or .xpdl file as the Source model.

Note: For a Visio file, be sure to select the correct type in the Files of Type list.

4. Browse to select an Orchestration project and folder. An Orchestration project contains a bpel folder, the recommended folder for storing .bpel files.
5. Select a filename for the bpel file.
6. Select Finish.
