Transforming to a BPEL model

When the business process model is complete, ActiveVOS Designer can assist in transforming the model into executable BPEL that can be deployed and run on the ActiveVOS Server.  Once the model has been transformed, the ActiveVOS perspective can be used to assist in quickly identifying any providing any implementation details that may have been unknown at the time of modeling.

Before generating a BPEL orchestration model from BPMN, it is advised to first use the Validate command to ensure that the BPMN model is compliant and all properties are correctly filled. You can choose to generate a BPEL skeleton if your model is not filled with all BPEL and web services properties.  You can also choose the target BPEL platform – both BPEL 1.1 and BPEL 2.0 are supported.

To transform a BPMN model to a BPEL model

  1. Select the editor of the BPMN model.
  2. On the Modeling menu, click Transform to BPEL.
  3. In the Transform dialog, specify the destination folder (project), file name, target platform (BPEL 1.1 or BPEL 2.), BPEL skeleton vs. complete BPEL and the named process. The destination folder defaults to the same folder as the BPMN model. Note that each participant (represented by a swimlane) has its own process and thus it is possible for a BPMN model to have more than one process. You can only transform one process at a time, however.
  4. Click OK.
