Changing diagram defaults

You can change many default options for a diagram—colors, fonts, routing styles, and shape sizes. Changed options will only affect newly created elements (not existing elements).

To change the default options for the appearance of diagrams:

  1. Click Window -> Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences window file tree, click the + to expand Business Process.
  3. Select new default options.
  4. Click OK.

The table below describes the options and functionality on the Preferences page.

Show Web Service related Properties

When this check box is checked, the In Message, Out Message, Message, and Web Service tabs are visible. If it is cleared, those tabs are not visible. The default is checked.

Object ID

Specify whether a user can change the object ID. The default is No; that is, Automatically Generated and Read Only.

Diagram creation date

Specify whether a user can change the diagram creation date. The default is No; that is, Read Only. Diagram creation date is a property of a process model.

Diagram modification date

Specify whether a user can change the diagram modification date. The default is No; that is, Program Managed. Diagram modification date is a property of a process model.

Business Process->Appearance

Higher quality

The default is checked. Higher quality is supported when an advanced graphics system is available for SWT. In Windows, it is supported without additional requirements. Higher quality will make the shapes and lines smooth. If your system does not support this option, it does not appear.

Show exclusive gateway marker

Specify whether an exclusive gateway should have a marker.

Specifies fill color, font color and font for each modeling element.

Business Process->Initial Value->Connection Routing

Connection Routing

Specifies routing styles of a connecting object Choices are rectilinear or oblique. If rectilinear is selected, the line segments are either horizontal or vertical. Oblique routing does not impose any such limitation.

Allows you to import a license key from a file, copy/paste a key, or type in the license key.

Network Proxy

Allows you to specify settings for a proxy host on a network.

Path Map

Allows you to specify a custom network location for storage of models and related files.
